Editing & Consultancy

Editing (or ‘heavy copy-editing’) involves a thorough examination of written material and content.

Often due to time constraints or resource shortages, authors sometimes require much more than copy-editing support. Editing variously incorporates fact-checking, condensing, restructuring and rewriting for purposes of clarity and impact. It will also include the processes of general copy-editing: addressing inconsistencies, repetition, tone and flow of the document, the presentation of data, and picking up spelling and grammatical errors.

In consultancy, my services extend to research support, advising authors on style and target audience communication, and occasionally creating new copy from given material (uncredited).

I have also helped academics and professionals refine job applications and resumes to better meet job descriptions and TORs.

Documents and content requiring editing should always be submitted in Word, PowerPoint or Excel, not as PDF or online pages for digital editing.

Pricing is calculated according to word count and time estimation for project completion. Costs will inevitably be higher if consultancy involves extensive correspondence and collaboration with client and author(s). Please reach out for a quote!
